Electronics Hardware Engineer

Salary Range: $105,000-$125,000 USD per year

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as an Electronics Hardware Engineer at the NAVSEA Warfare Center South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF), Ft Lauderdale, FL. The candidate will support SFOMF on various projects, tests and operations associated with the U.S. Navy’s research, development, test, and evaluation programs.  This consists of working as a technical team member at the government site to perform design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of circuits and execute board level repairs in support of the design, deployment, operation, and data reduction of advanced sensors and associated systems. The candidate shall also test, splice, and repair Fiber Optic cables and connectors of shore side and in-water systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience as a hardware design engineer
  • Previous Electronics Technician training and experience is preferred
  • Job experience with the military or other DoD organizations is preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in analog & digital circuit design. Must be able to troubleshoot existing circuits and execute board level repairs as needed
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, time-domain reflectometers, DVM, megohmmeters, function generators, etc.
  • Experience with analog to digital conversion requirements such as alias filtering and system noise at the bit level
  • Experience with interpretation of FFT results and utilization of software tools in LabVIEW or MATLAB to generate engineering scaled signals
  • Experience with Fiber Optic cable testing, splicing, and repair
  • Rudimentary soldering skills for PCB and connector repair
  • Rudimentary wiring skills for cable splicing and repair
  • Experience with grounding, bonding and shielding
  • Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, Power Point, MS Word & Excel
  • A self-starter able to work on tasks individually or as part of a small technical team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, both orally and in writing


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
